The Benefits and uses of Hypnotherapy With Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
The day will consist of:
1) Explanation of all IBS variations
2) How to mitigate and / or remove symptoms completely, of this troublesome complaint, which affects up to 1 in 4 of the population at some times in their lives!
This Workshop will cover Patient Counselling / Information gathering, IBS Variation Recognition, Aetiology, Pathogenesis, Understanding Medical Terms, Structuring & Planning sessions, Monitoring Responses & Feedback, Scripts, Managing Secondary Gain Issues, Replying to Referring Consultants and more ... No medical or clinical training is necessary; this workshop is designed for Lay Hypnotherapists in Practice. All delivered in an easy to understand way, with humour, sensitivity and in-depth knowledge.
Michael Mahoney is a Clinical Hypnotherapist in professional practice since 1986, specialised in IBS since 1991, he was the first Hypnotherapist in the UK to hold IBS workshops specifically for Hypnotherapists. His workshop is often imitated, but never beaten. His knowledge of 25 years in practice and 20 years working with IBS patients, GPs and Gastroenterologists is unrivalled. In July 2012, he attended the Queens garden party as recognition of his work in "Innovative health solutions" through his suit of audio programs.
He holds membership of several primary care societies. Michael’s services are used by GP’s / NHS & Private Hospital Consultants throughout the North West of England, and beyond. He has Medical Research Project Experience funded and audited by the Medical Profession. He is a trained Trainer of NHS HoNoS. He regularly presents to Medical Forums on both Hypnosis and Stress Management which have been PGEA (GP Training) Accredited. In October 2001 he presented his work in IBS to the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Primary Care Society. He has worked as a consultant at a local hospital one day a week working alongside psychiatrists and other medical personnel. In March 2002 he was asked to give evidence to an NHS Priority Sub Setting Committee regarding IBS and its impact on the patient and a proposed structure to allow hypnotherapy for IBS management to be used on the NHS. He also holds membership of several international education and research groups.

The day will consist of:
1) An Introduction to the disease
2) Treatment options
3) Hypnotherapy and some uses in this area.
This Workshop looks at: What cancer is, causes of cancer, benign and malignant tumours, metastasis, staging and tumour classifications, treatments, the cancer journey, surgery, radiotherapy what it is and its side effects, chemotherapy, other treatment options, mitigation of causes, patient experience, survivorship, end of life issues. We take a look at the immune system, recognising spirituality, and psychological impact, understanding bad news and its impact, lifestyle factors, integrating complementary therapy & clinical governance (basics contract with patients), basic terminology and more including Hypnotherapy scripts for relaxation, anticipatory nausea, pre / post surgery, pain control, emotional recovery, and end of life.
Attendees should leave this workshop with a better understanding of cancer and its impact on the patient and their loved ones, and some of the benefits and uses of hypnotherapy in this area. This will be a full and busy day; ideal to help those considering entering this rewarding field.

Michael Mahoney is a Clinical Hypnotherapist being in professional practice since 1986. Widely known for his work in the gastroenterology field he also has extensive experience in the field of working with cancer patients, with particular interest in breast cancer and emotional recovery.
He has research and patient piloting experience working with breast cancer patients. He is the author of the widely acclaimed CD ‘An aid to Emotional Recovery after Breast Cancer’ for which he received an Innovation and Research Award in 2005.
This CD is used or recommended as an additional treatment option in over 110 NHS Hospitals, with information included in discharge packs from many breast cancer departments. Michael received his certificate in working with people with cancer from National Cancer ‘Czar’ Professor Mike Richards in 2005 accredited by the University of West England.

The cost for the day is £155.00. This includes coffee on arrival, buffet lunch, afternoon tea, and plenty of handout information, including scripts to take home with you.
